Sathananthan Sudarshan is a Chartered Secretary by profession and is an Associate of The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland, previously known as The Chartered Secretaries & Administrators (UK) and the Institute of Chartered Corporate Secretaries in Sri Lanka. He has been awarded an MBA from the University of Lincoln, Hull, United Kingdom.

He successfully completed the “Company Director’s Course’ conducted by the Commonwealth Association for Corporate Governance on behalf of the Commonwealth Fund for Technical Cooperation.
Mr. Sudarshan is a Governance specialist with a Management and Corporate Secretarial experience.

He is well versed in governance and compliance that draws together many disciplines such as, strategy, law, regulation and risk and practical understanding of the dynamics of the Board and organization.

He is well experienced in the governance sector and has the experience and expertise to put the Boards requirements into practice.

After completing his education at Ananda College, Colombo 10, he started on his Company Secretary career at Hulugalle Associates (Pvt) Limited. Later he joined the Corporate Secretarial division of PricewaterhouseCoopers. (PWC) and gained wide experience by attending Board meetings of companies in many industries.

After a few years he joined Pugoda Textiles Lanka; a subsidiary of an Indian Multinational Company (LMW,Coimbatore , India) and was appointed its Company Secretary.

He later joined Sampath Bank PLC as its Company Secretary and was later appointed Group Company Secretary. He served the longest tenure as a Company Secretary of a listed Bank (over 17 years) Later he was appointed as the Company Secretary of Siyapatha Finance PLC which is a subsidiary of Sampath Bank PLC with effect from 7th December 2015 where he relinquished duties recently. He is the Deputy President of the Institute of Chartered Corporate Secretaries of Sri Lanka. He is also, the Treasurer of the Sri Lanka Tennis Association.
